This recipe is a great snack though it is not for the health-conscious. These mushrooms are easy to make and best served when they're still hot.
Deep Fried Mushrooms
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: about 2-3 mins
8-10 fresh white mushrooms (depending on the size), rinsed and patted dry with paper towel
3/4 cup self-raising flour
1 tsp corn flour
1/2 cup + 2 tbsps cold water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
a dash of pepper
1. Mix all the ingredients for the batter in a bowl until the batter is thick and smooth. If there are any lumps, just pour through a sieve.
2. Heat oil in large skillet until bubbly but not smoking. Dip mushrooms into batter one by one.
3. Drop mushrooms into hot oil and fry until golden brown. You can fry the mushrooms, if small all at once.
4. Fish out from oil, place on paper towel to drip. Serve while the mushrooms are still hot with mayonnaise on the side.
You can have a delicious snack in just a few minutes..simple and easy.
